Ophthalmologist in Los Angeles | Lasik Surgery
Dr. Vu shares a unique understanding with LASIK patients, as she now has freedom from glasses and contact lenses due to LASIK surgery. She strongly believes in the safety and effectiveness of LASIK surgery and has performed the procedure on several of her family members and friends and owns one of the latest lasers for laser vision correction.
Dr. Vu performs both LASIK and Epi-LASIK, which allows her to treat a wide range of patients, including those with thin corneas. She begins the LASIK procedure by creating a map of the eye that outlines all of the cornea’s flaws. Then, she uses this map to calibrate the Allegretto Wave excimer laser. Next, she creates a small flap in the cornea and uses the excimer laser to correct its flaws. Last, the flap is returned to its original position, where it acts as a natural bandage to the eye. In Epi-LASIK, Dr. Vu does not create a corneal flap, but rather, removes a small amount of the cornea’s outer layer before administering the excimer laser.
